Doing good has a long tradition at Eppendorf: once a year, employees in Hamburg put on their rubber boots and roll up their sleeves to help make the Alster River, located near the company’s headquarters, more natural as part of Hamburg’s volunteer initiative “Wi mook dat” (“We got this”). With plenty of team spirit – along with gravel and deadwood – new structures are created in and along the river. These form new habitats for small animals, fish, otters, and kingfishers, meaning this volunteer effort makes an important contribution to nature and species conservation right on Eppendorf’s doorstep. Project partners include the “Lebendige Alster” initiative from the Federation for Environmental Protection (BUND) and the Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union (NABU).

Social engagement takes place at many Eppendorf locations around the world. One example is the site in Enfield, USA, which hosted several charity initiatives in 2025. During employee events tied to special occasions – including the company’s 80th anniversary – donations were collected to support the Breast Cancer Alliance Fund and the Eppendorf Employee Relief Fund. The fund provides one-time support to employees facing unforeseen financial hardship.

At Thanksgiving, around 450 kilograms of food were donated in Enfield – equivalent to 840 meals for the local Enfield Food Shelf. The Shanghai office also supported the Eppendorf Employee Relief Fund during the year through proceeds from an internal bazaar, where employees donated used electronics, handicrafts, and toys.
